Jumper Settings for Alpine SPX-17REF to Get Rid of Distortion?
I have a pair of Alpine Component Speakers (Model SPX-17REF) which are 75 watts RMS and inside the crossover there's a jumper with 4 settings, 0dB, -1.5dB -3dB and -6dB.
Right now its on the factory setting (0dB) and I'm getting a lot of distortion from an amp rated at 70 watts RMS but my rear speakers are sounding fine (they are Alpine Type R's rated at 100 watts RMS)
Would changing the jumper setting help this at all? If so what dB should I use?
those jumper settings are related to the tweeters so if your getting to much or to little tweet you can add or remove sound from them but if your getting distortion from only the front speakers have you checked the amp settings specifically the HPF(high pass filter) this will eliminate most of the low end frequencies coming from the componet speakers if all has been checked and is correct then try swapping rcas if the problem switches speakers then its a bad rca or stereo output if not its possibly a bad amp channel or pinched speaker wire
