Be Your Own Used Car Auto Mechanic And Learn How To Judge A Used Car
Buying a used car, for many people, is a very intimidating task. There are fears of being ripped off or having the car break down on the way home from the purchase site. Here are a couple simple tips to help locate a good versus a not so good used car and ways you can be your own used car auto mechanic when looking at a vehicle.
First of all, when walking up to the vehicle take a good look at it. Look for fluids underneath the vehicle. Is the vehicle sitting level or is it leaning to one side or the other? Fluids underneath the car could be a sign of an oil, transmission fluid or coolant leak. If the vehicle is not sitting level, it could be a sign of suspension damage.
Then look more in depth to the car and open its hood and check it out. Walk away if you see low levels in the oil, coolant or transmission. Walk away as well if you smell a burnt gassy odor. These are signs the engine is damaged for lack of care.
If it passes so far it is time to get to your knees and look under the car. Look for fluids dripping off the engine. Look for this off the transmission as well and notice any obvious damage. If you can look at brake pads and judge if the pads and rotors are in good shape.
When it is time to start the car up ask the seller politely to do it for you if they hand you the keys. While they start it go to the back and look at the smoke that comes out the back. Check for blue smoke as this could be a sign of severe engine damage.
Next it is time to test drive and listen for sounds that shouldn't be there. Accelerate the car and see if it speeds up smoothly. See if the transmission shifts smoothly as well.
Stretch out on the road if you can and let the steering wheel go. Continue in a straight piece of road and let go of the wheel. The car should still go straight and you should be able to brake slowly and the car still stays straight.
Check all of the windows and mirrors for cracks and chips. Make sure everything works. Check the power windows, air conditioning, heater, stereo and so on. Doing all of these things does not mean 100% that your car will not break down but it does increase your chances greatly that you will be getting a quality used vehicle. If you do not have one get a used car auto mechanic you can trust who knows about the model you are buying to do repairs that are small that you are not able to do. If you cannot judge these items take someone with you that can.

How much is a used 97' Mustang GT V8 AUTO Rear Differential worth?
8.8 Rear, I think 3.27 Gears. Stock! Parting out the car and looking to see how much the while rear differential is worth selling for. works 100%
You are asking a question that is geographically sensitive. What I mean by that is it depends on where you live and how many salvage yards are either loaded up with your type car or on the other hand may not have any of your type cars. You need to call three salvage yards in your area and price the part from them. This will give you an idea as to the true value of your part. Also ask each one if they have your part in stock and if they give warranties and what the warranty is. I`ll give you a good tip. When dealing with used parts it is better to sell them with out a warranty and to do this you may have to discount your part just a little under the price of the ones at the salvage yards. Most salvage yards give 30 days around here but that's different in other areas of the country. Rear ends around here in really good shape and low miles will bring up to 750.00 depending on the gear ratio. But, if the salvage yards have a load of the same rear ends yours in your area may not bring no more than a 100.00 bucks. It all depends on availability and how long they last before they wear out. Some parts last for ever and you can`t give used ones away. Right now I`m sitting on seven 9 inch for rear ends and two 8.8`s with disk brakes. They have been in my stock pile for several years now. I hope this helps.
