adding amps....?
I have been installing car stereo components for a couple of years and have never ran into this problem. I just installed a new deck into my SRT-4, no problem. I ran the amp kit to the trunk, no problem. Installed the amp, again no problem. Then i added the 4 ch hooked up the speakers, turned it on and the 4ch powers up fine, the mono block that i installed first works fine but the 4ch produced no sound. I'm not dumb when it comes to installing amps, but never ran into this problem. I had the main power supply go to a dist. block and then to the amps and still nothing. it also happened when i tried hooking up an X-over.
no dumb answers please
i thought of that, i know sometimes i crimp the hell outta it, almost to much, but i've never had a wire come disconnected!! lol
well i dont know the answer, but here is what i would do to trouble shoot. first switch rca cables from sub amp and 4 channel amp. to rule out bad rca's. then i would check the speakers with a battery, simply run the speaker wires over the positive and neg of a small aa or c battery you should here static come thru the speaker, this eliminates any damage to the speaker or wires. last i would double tripple check the ground wire from the 4ch amp. if all that is well, it may be a bad amp.
