Keeping Your Stereo And Speakers In Good Condition
For the majority of audiophiles, the process of buying new audio equipment tends to be concentrated on rationalizing a balance between what is available and what they can realistically afford. There is no point spending a large amount of money on one particular area of audio electronics as the quality of the sound produced will always only be as good as the weakest link, or the product of least technical ability to be precise. As most sensible shoppers know, purchasing a relatively expensive item should not be a thoughtless process and needs to involve some research on your part. Co-currently, after you purchase items such as a stereo or speakers, you should take good care of them to make certain they last.
Taking care of audio equipment such as stereos and speakers needs to be considered from the moment you purchase the items. First of all, in many countries it is a legal requirement for electrical retailers to provide a warranty period to customers on new electronic equipment, and on top of that, each manufacturer must provide a guarantee also. When you purchase new equipment, make sure you know your position if the situation arose where the equipment was faulty and required repair, what are you covered for? Who should you contact?
With all top of the range speakers and audio equipment, experts believe that every unit should be run in before they are tested to the limits of their capabilities. What this means is that, just like a brand new car, you should use the equipment on low volumes for an extended period of time. This is particularly important for high quality speakers due to the mechanics involved in the functionality of a speaker. Different methods of breaking in speakers are advised by different people ranging from playing very low frequency tones to loosen the materials, to reversing the polarity of the cables going to the speakers and facing the left and right speakers towards each other in close proximity and playing medium volume music through them.
Along with correctly breaking in your new stereo and speakers, you should also bear in mind some firm rules. You should never need to open the case of your audio equipment for any reason; unless you are an electrical engineer and have knowledge of electronic circuitry then voiding the manufacturers warranty is just not worth it. Always ensure that no liquid comes into contact with your audio equipment as electronic equipment and water do not mix. Lastly, always make sure that your stereo is in a well ventilated place and the casings vents are not blocked by DVD cases or books.
