The Freshly Improved LED Light Bulbs Will Lead In Homes Lighting In The Future
LED (light-emitting diode) lights are becoming more popular in all markets; they do away with nearly all the concerns of lightweight fluorescent lights. The main thing keeping them from consumer proliferation is the prohibitively high cost.
Just as lightweight fluorescent light bulbs have all, but completely replaced incandescent lights in nearly every application, LEDs are on their way in. In the same manner of fashion, LEDs are plagued by high initial prices that are taking time to come down.
Despite the high price of LEDs, their pros and cons are many. One common remark about compact fluorescent is the ramp-up time to full luminosity. Even instant-on CFLs hold a ramp-up time; they start at a relatively low lumen count and then gradually get brighter until they've attained maximum lumens. LED light bulbs do not have this problem and thus turn on instantly with full intensity.
With the instant full intensity of LEDs, they are beneficial to rooms/applications where cycling is something (turning on and off frequently). Repetitive power cycling does not damage or hinder LED light bulbs. On a similar note, LEDs can also be dimmed as normal, albeit by slightly various ways; a pulse-width modulator or maybe cutting down the forward current.
LEDs have a "slow failure", that is their malfunctioning is a gradual dimming with a stop at the end. Incandescent bulbs have a direct failure that can easily result in bulb explosions if not carefully handled during elimination. CFLs can shatter as well, if the screw in bottom part becomes stuck.
LED size could be misleading considering the tiny size of the light bulbs and their incredible life span, which is estimated at 35000 to 50000 hours. If you use the LED light bulbs in the right locations (away from extreme heat), they need to attain the aforementioned life spans. When compared to the functional life of the LEDs, the incandescent is expected to perform 1000-2000 hours, and the small fluorescent light bulb is designed to last 10000 to 15000 hours.
I've observed LED lamps in use to switch flood lights in a basement. They didn't provide you with the same amount of light as I could have wanted, however they must have been an equivalently reduced wattage than the incandescent had been. This is part of the cause for the high price; more costly parts and device generate more to produce and run.
I think that with all the advantages of LED light bulbs, once the prices start coming down, we'll find a lot of them in households and business. They're already being employed in the streets with LED traffic lights, although that has lifted issues of its own. Nevertheless, I look forward to utilizing them in my kitchen area. Some of my favorite things about CFLs are the assorted color temperatures you can find to customize as you wish. You can do the same thing with LED, and once prices become more feasible, I can see a lot of users taking advantage of this excellent new technology.
Is it possible to buy an attachable LED light unrelated to the HD video camera I own?
Does anyone know any brands of small attachable LED lights for a small HD video camera. It's an 840HD vivitar. Its not anything big, But it's just for some small footage, but for filming at night - I was wondering if an LED light would do the job, because the camera doesn't seem to have any night lighting available?
Well... you can search "camcorder LED video light"... or you can look into mounting an LED bike light to your camcorder...
