Enjoy Your Whale Watching Cruise
There is much excitement in CA whale watching. All year round, you'll see diverse and abundant whale species inhabiting the bay, not to mention a number of their dolphin companions and marine seabirds. Since the Monterey Submarine Canyon runs deep but close to shore, you'll have a wonderful opportunity to see a number of deep and shallow water species, including humpbacks, grays, killers and blue whales, as well as Pacific white-sided, Risso's, northern right and common dolphins and Dall's porpoises. You will occasionally spot fin, minke and beaked whales, harbor porpoises and bottlenose dolphins.
There are many factors that make whale watching in California a cut above the rest, particularly the Monterey Bay harbor cruise whale watching. For instance, Monterey Bay is one of the few places you can witness killers hunting grays. Normally, the grays will stick to shallow waters during their mid-December to April migration. However, the grays must venture much deeper into killer whale territory to cross the Monterey Canyon, which often results in bloody conflict. During the rest of the year, visitors will see humpbacks and blues hunting smaller prey like anchovies and krill. "This year there's been so much krill it looks like the sea is stained with red," explains Keith Stemler of Princess Monterey Whale Watching. And more krill means more whales, he adds.
CA whale watching is also an interesting experience because there are deep trenches dug down into the ocean beds for submarine passage, which gives the whales the depth they enjoy, but also lets them surface close to the shore where they can feed. Visitors can sometimes catch a glimpse at them! The whale watching cruise is another way to see these friendly giants. It's not unusual for a humpback to swim alongside the boat, roll on its side and look up at the passengers who can't get their cameras out fast enough. As Princess Monterey's Benji Shake says, "If you make eye contact with a whale, you are never the same again -- ever."
CA whale watching wasn't always this tremendous. Back in the eighties, whales were suffering from serious endangerment and you'd be hard-pressed to see anything. A few grays lived in the area and there were about 500 humpbacks migrating along the California coastline. Now that the whales have proliferated and grays are no longer an endangered species, it looks like blues and humpbacks are also poised for a strong recovery. In some parts of the world, these whales are endangered, explains marine biologist Nancy Black, but they are doing well in Monterey Bay. White screen ?
i have a flat screen Monitor and any time i reset it
it comes up and starts normal but the screen in white and i can see the normal desktop in the background but it is hard to make out becasue it's like the there is a "white fog" on the screen
if i reset it enough i starts up normal
is it static ? and how do i fix it ?
