Bonsai Wiring Basics
Many bonsai trees get their elegant profile through a procedure that comprises wrapping aluminum or copper wiring from the bonsai's base and around the branches. The basic bonsai style can be created by wrapping the trunk and branches of the tree with wire of the right length and thickness. The formal upright style needs no wrapping, however the cascade design involves many months of considerable training.
You must be very cautious when you're applying wire to the trunk or branches of a bonsai tree due to the stress it causes. To master the delicate skill of bonsai wiring, patience is required. Do not be disheartened, however, because if you are willing to take the time you can learn how to do this, and you’ll be so happy with the results.
