how can i fix my car amp?
i bought a xplod sony 480 watts and apm for my car when i hooked it up it dont want to work but only the light truns on wat can i do to fix it and make it work?i check every wire and its hooked up rite even the ground.
If the power light is coming on, the amp is getting juice. That's a step in the right direction. Check the RCA cables (swap them with another set if you can - RCAs rarely go bad, but it's better to check everything).
If the RCAs are good, make sure your speaker wires from the amp to the sub box are connected on both ends.
If the speaker wire outside the box is good, pull the sub (or subs) to make sure the wires didn't pop off of the terminals on the sub(s) and also on the back of the terminal cup.
If all of this wiring it OK, now it's time to check the subs themselves. You can either measure the resistance of the speaker with a multi-meter, or you can throw a friend's subwoofer in your trunk to see if that works.
If you've done all of this and nothing works, either send the amplifier out for service, buy a new one, or exchange it from where you got it. It all depends on how long you have owned the amp.
CES 2009: Sony Xplods with new automotive units (Autoblog)
Filed under: Audio, Gadgets, CES, Ford
Sony is expanding its Xplod car stereo lineup with eight new models, including
the company's first double-din unit in several years.
The most feature-filled of the new models is Sony's MEX-BT5700U model (in
photo above) with a front USB port for music players including iPhone and
iPod. Its Bluetooth connection can also transfer phonebook info from a phone
to its display and allows access to phone functions through the head unit. And
when using Bluetooth to play music from a media device, the Sony unit displays
song name, artist, etc. Sony says the MEX-BT5700U is their top of the line
head unit and expects it to go on sale this June for about $300._ Follow the
jump for info on all seven of Sony's other models announced this week at CES
as well as the official Sony press release._
